Definatly Bachmann, even their old 2004 models were top notch and superdetailed.

Vitrains has a bit of a problem with their superdetail, for one the hand rails are moulded and claims have been made that during transist the airhorns snap off. It is dissapointing to see that there are 2 traction tyres, one on each bogie on opposite ends. For a model that weighs 560g and Bachmann's under 700 perhaps it was deemed necessary?

Although apparently they are good runners and again easy for decoder installation which makes a smooth running model.

At least they'll be a good source of 37 bits for kitbashers, and certainly better quality than what Hornby or Lima ever did.

on its own without the components from what ive seen i would imagine it to be better than Hornbys finished models. There is a limit to how far the kit goes anyway, all the necessarys like windscreen wipers etc all need attaching which provides slighty more enjoyment in making what you run. A main concern is the cab apparently which lacks detail, but to a keen modeller can be overcome.

Doesn´t fit really to this thread, but do anyone know if there is a DCC sound-decoder for a class 37 available?
I bought a Bachmann 37 (Regional Railways livery) some years ago and would like to fit it with some sound...

HOT ON THE heels of its first two Class 37/4 models, ViTrains has released a second pair of locomotives, #2014 No. 37403 Glendarroch in non-standard Railfreight Distribution livery and #2015 No. 37423 Sir Murray Morrison in InterCity Mainline colours.

The new models show some subtle alterations over the first batch, which came in for some criticism due to the unpainted yellow front ends and less than secure fit of the body on the chassis. Both of these issues have now been corrected. However, the packaging is still less than sufficient to protect some of the more fragile details like the horns, which arrived damaged on these two releases.

Two more liveries are still due to be produced from the first six announced, No. 37411 Caerphilly Castle in BR green and No. 37422 Cardiff Canton in EWS maroon/gold, while ViTrains is apparently due to announce a further eight colour schemes for the Class 37/4 in late April.

I'd love one though, one of my earliest memories is a swallow liveried 37 at Fort William with a swallow liveried motorail van, prior to departure on the sleepers.
