I was at the check in area in St Pancras yesterday and I saw a chap not quite jump the barrier. He was obviously late and was directed by a staff member to a gate and he just walked through the gap between the paddles. He was send back to scan his ticket. In the current climate he was lucky not to have had more trouble.

Best wishes, Stephen.

PS I saw quite a mixture of trains both new trains and old in both liveries. Not sure if the old trains in the new colours have been refurbished.

I have seen people turn up at check in at St Pancras two minutes before departure, and argue with staff when they are told they can't get on the train.

Also at St Pancras, I have seen people who have checked in on time dither about in the departure lounge until after last call for their train, and after the doors to the platform have been closed. Then they complain about missing the train.

I agree that in the current climate it is very stupid to try and push through the barriers. The man you describe was lucky the police weren't called.

He was lucky. I saw armed police at a station yesterday. I guess he thought he was following the instruction he had been given by the staff member. Perhaps English was not his main language.

I did see another person get turned back later. The assistant wrote something on his ticket after looking at the time. He ended up in the queue at the ticket office.

Best wishes, Stephen.
