I was looking through a selection of DVD titles earlier and noticed that there was a photo of a Network SouthEast liveried loco hauling some 325s on it's cover, then it hit me that it's an 87 and not 86401. The image is below,

Does anyone know what the story behind this is?

Cheers,

In the closing days of Virgin's use of class 87s, a public poll was set up to choose two non-standard special liveries to adorn the sides of two class 87 locos. This resulted in 87019 being painted in London & North Western Railway lined black, and 87012 receiving Network South East livery. The NSE livery carried by 87012 was also applied in association with Britain's bid to host the 2012 Olympics, and carried "London 2012 Back the Bid" lettering in the standard NSE style and typeface on the body sides.

It is 87012, which, in connection with London's bid to host the 2012 Olympics, was repainted in NSE colours in 2005 with 'Back the Bid London 2012' branding (rather than 'Network SouthEast').

Thanks for the prompt replies folks.

and carried "London 2012 Back the Bid" lettering in the standard NSE style and typeface on the body sides.

I knew I wasn't going crazy :) I remember seeing an NSE electric with that along the side stabled up at Willesden years ago and figured it was 86401 but could not find a single picture verifing the wording.

Thanks again,
