So, being as we have so many discussions about use or non use of editing software on photos, I've just examined the new 'Built in the 19th century, rebuilt for the 21st century' poster and whilst amused by some of the coloured lights on either the front or rear of trains, one can only assume all the trains were heading toward the camera as all the signals only have traces of red, no other hints of colour. On the one I saw they also have the dangerous derelict former carriage shed, hardly a symbol of progress, is it?

The adverts are like they are as NR werent allowed to show any TOCs on it as it would imply favouritism, so they are bound to be photoshopped to death.

I can't believe they'd be in trouble if they showed all of the TOCs that use the West Coast. You couldn't exactly have NatEx East Anglia complaining they weren't on it. I do understand that but not the orange, yellow blue and green tail or headlight trails that can be seen. And it was purely observational that I wouldn't have picked a shot which has a large section showing an abandoned and derelict railway building to say they're making it fit for the 21st century

How long are signals on red for compared to the other colours. It looks like it has been shot image overlaid over a number of other images. It's not a photo, it is a graphic and the OP is a pedantic.

If you want funny, watch the video advert a few times and tell me what is missing in the fells shots. Now that's funny.

Enough water has flowed under the bridge since 1962 to raise this matter.
My late father was the P-Way Asst. to the District Engineer, Lancaster.
He was asked to provide figures for the Silloth branch.
Back in the 1950's when still under Scottish Region control a J39 hauling a passenger train was derailed on poor track.
In consequence father had it 90% relaid, with concrete sleepers on good bullhead rail, So his response was that track renewal and maintenance was a one mile length between Abbeytown and Silloth, and accordingly no heavy expendiure was forseen.
Euston responded that these figures were unacceptable. Could father please give an amount for an average run down branch.
It fell to me to attend the redundant assets meeting, and watch sound track being torn up.
The closure was so contravercial that several lengths were ripped out at Canal Jct, as soon as approval to close the line was given and implemented.
There was egg on face when it was realised that two rakes of wagons were stranded at Silloth Docks.
There was also about this time an enquiry for a daily trainload of freight contenet I forget, through the docks, but an excessive rate was quoted, and that was the end of the matter.
How many other lines were so treated, and in the article I am writing, when the oil runs out, either the line will have to be put back, or more likely a roadside electric tramway built. It was a long time ago, but it can still get to me.

somehow I don't think that that concerns the wcml 'upgrade'
