Network rail track inspection (operative) interview

hello everyone.
I just came back from annual leave to see i have a track inspection (operative) interview in a few days. (internal)
Anyone work this role or have any advice for me to help me prepare for the interview?
Really hoping to get this.

Hello mate

i use to be in charge of the track inspection gangs

You will get asked standard network rail questions about safety etc

then at the end they may as done tecnical questions but if your freshto the railway i doubt they will ask

You would normally build up to be a lookout after a certain amount of time and then go from there

I was going to start a new thread but thought I may as well ask in this one as it's vaguely relevant.

I am currently studying a level 3 diploma in railway engineering in order to get on to the railway. At the end of the course, I will be employed by an agency as a basic trackman. Just wondering what the difference in roles would be like. Obviously with the agency, you take work where you can get it so I would assume that the locations will be all over the place. When working with Network Rail, are you more likely to be based in one area? Any other potential benefits of working with Network Rail as opposed to an agency apart from holiday/sick pay etc?
