Hello guys/ladies, I'm new to the forum, I have an interview in December 11th for a Track Inspection role at Knottingley depot. I've been trying to get this job for 2 years but have never got this far in the application process, I'm so nervous about the interview because I want the job so much, I know the interview is based on the 8 non-technical skills but can anybody shed light on how the questions are sentenced? And what else may come up in the interview? I'd much appreciate it!

What's your employment background? Surely to get as far as an interview you impressed them?

My employment background had been warehouse work, FLT driver & security officer & also a plasterer. I do know the interview is about the 8 non technical questions which I have great examples for each one but I am just curious if there's anything else that does come up, I've learnt lots about the company & recent projects also.

Was just curious mate as I applied for this and only got as far as 'under consideration for assessment 2'...would have been a decent step into the railway as im down the road in Wakefield.
My background is engineering, im currently a warehouse supervisor, FLT driver and previously project installations supervisor. Only thing feedback said was the usual thing of "other candidates more closely matched what they were looking for'.

Ive applied for a signalling job now and also a drivers job as the role criteria and testing seems more in line with the skills I have.
Just research the current and future infrastructure work in our area and what Network Rail do as a company, the 8 NTS and be honest, open and remember everything is safety critical

I wish you good luck if all future applications mate, it's very disheartening to get that email, I've had it myself a few times now & it's really discouraging but I just kept trying, Thank you for your advice as well mate, i have a very good idea of the answers I can use for each of the 8 NTS questions, I'll definitely be Honest & open too, thanks.

It was the third Track role I'd applied for without success, though it was good to get that far. Made me start wondering if my skills are of better use elsewhere hence looking into signalling. Are you local?

There are tons of opportunities at NR, keep plugging away and get into the company. the Internal Vacancies have many more jobs than external.

Did you get feedback as the the reason for your failure?

I've asked for feedback but haven't received any yet, it's at the manages discretion apparently. I've applied for Track Inspection in Sheffield & Technician in Wakefield so fingers crossed again! Thanks everyone!

Managed to get myself another interview for the same job. Will the questions be the same as lat time? the interviewer just read them from a piece of paper so im guessing there's a specific set of questions they ask?

Did you get any feedback in the end?

No I never did. I rang HR and they sent him my details to get intouch but he never did. I rang again shortly after but the same happened again.

Unsuccessful again. Decided I'm going to get my PTS myself & get experience on the agencies, maybe this will give me a better chance. Can you get your PTS yourself? If so where's a good place to don't the course?
