Network Rail Signalling Schools

What happened to the Network Rail signalling schools? I recall that there were plans for about seven new ones, way back in 2002 or so, but I gather that they are all now closed. Does anyone know how many there were and why they were closed?

Most of them were in rented buildings; and as NR couldn't go anywhere else easily the rents became somewhat inflated. When the ROCs started being built it was decided to add a few extra classroom type buildings and cut NR's losses (Basingstoke; York). Perth is in substantial NR owned office space that would be disused otherwise. Not sure about the others.
As to the second part of your question - now closed signalling schools that I know of aaaaare
Watford - closed 2012
Leeds - closed 2013/14
Waterloo (South Side) - closed mid 2000s
Birmingham New Street - closed mid-late 2000s
Paddock Wood - closed early 2010s
Potentially others...
