It's time the bullet was bitten and the line reclaimed into NR, in anticipation of the passenger service to Okehampton.
I agree, this has dragged on for years and years. The economic case appears wyite strong while securing part of a potentially strategic diversionary route in the future

Anticipation of what services to Okehampton? NR aren't going to have any interest in it unless there is a commited scheme to re-open it, which despite appearing a pretty simple one to do, no one seems interested in doing.

What’s the situation with Meldon quarry?
Any chance it will reopen, which presumably would have to involve rail transport out?

I'm sure I read that there was an intention to provide a regular service as part of the current Great Western franchise as soon as rolling stock becomes available.
