Network Rail - Salaried Staff Pay Dates

Hello
I am due to start work for Network Rail on 10/12/18 and I am trying to work out when payday will be! I have found out that it is every 4 weeks, but also that different types of workers are paid on different weeks.

Does anybody know when the salaried staff paydate is in December?

Tomorrows is the Nov pay, so 4 weeks tomorrow will be Dec's.

what role are you starting Mike/ I applied for a signalman job a while back, done some tests and passed them and its now with the hiring manager but must of been about 2 months now and still no update, they did say it can take a long time though depending on which department and hiring manager availability

Unfortunately I don't think you will. The pay on 14/12/2018 is for the 4 week period ending on 08/12/2018. So if you start on 10/12/2018, that will be the first Monday of the new period.
The good news is that your first pay will likely be a full 4 week period worth of pay, the bad news is the pay day for this period will be 11/01/2019. :/

Edit: This is what is listed on the internal intranet btw, I'm not aware of any different pay dates that you mentioned above.

There are two main pay runs for Network Rail which are made on different weeks, HMRS and everyone else. As well as that some staff who are still on old infrastructure company T&Cs are paid on different weeks. There was a calendar on Connect but I have no idea if it made it to the new intranet.

How did your application process go?

It is a Project Development Manager role based in London. It will have taken just over 3 months from application to start date. I didn’t have to do any tests etc, just a competency based interview. It was the day after the interview I was called back to be offered the job.

From the reading I have done it seems that Signaller roles can take significantly longer. I wonder if it’s due to the number of applications?

Unfortunately I don't think you will. The pay on 14/12/2018 is for the 4 week period ending on 08/12/2018. So if you start on 10/12/2018, that will be the first Monday of the new period.

Thanks Link24. I had a feeling that would be case. I got paid today by my current employer so might not get paid until January now. I guess this is why I have savings!

Slightly off topic but a pre-warning for 4 weekly staff in employment this tax year (06/04/18 - 05/04/19) who maybe not aware: there will be 14 pay periods this year (a once in 21/22 year event I'm told) that means you'll have paid less tax than HMRC is expecting by virtue of your Tax Allowance being split over 13 periods. Hector will be clawing it back next year!

Just been searching and attempting to ask Payroll when my first payday is but have had no luck what so ever!

I'm due to start at Elder Gate as a Timetable planner on the 11th but am getting rather nervous about when I'm being paid.

Could anyone give me a rough estimate of pay dates for the next couple of months so I can plan my finances a little better?

Payday is today 08/02/19 next one four weeks 08/03/19 and the infamous 14th of the year on 05/04/19.

Yes the financial year which runs from 6 April 2018 to 5 April 2019. NR's first pay day of tax year 18/19 was 06/04/18 and the last payday of the year 18/19 is the 05/04/19 hence 14 four weekly payments over the tax year. The taxable allowance is calculated on there being 13 payments hence there will be an underpayment of tax for those employees which HMRC will reclaim back spread over the 13 periods of tax year 19/20.

NR 4 weekly pay is paid one week in arrears so if you start in the first week of the pay period you should receive 3 weeks pay as your first salary payment.
