Hi all, I’ve been put into the candidate pool. Am I right in thinking if you don’t match with any job after 6 months you are removed from the pool and have to reapply for other jobs?

All seems strange doing an interview and assessment with no job waiting at the end of it

I don’t think you 100% have the job as if nothing comes up in 6 months you’re removed from the pool
Stay positive, from my personal experience you will be aligned to a role at some point in near future.

have you been given a role now?what did you end up getting?
Cant say YES or NO at this stage. Email sounds like they will offer a role when I have spoken to Hiring manager. Waiting for the call. Nothing yet. Will obvs update the forum when I know more.
Sounds promising though.

Hi all,

I have an Assessment Day coming up for Network Rail, for Maintenance Operatives, Technicians and Team Leaders. This covers all roles below;

  • Distribution & Plant
  • Off Track
  • Signalling Maintenance
  • Telecoms
  • Track Maintenance
  • Welding & Grinding
I'm trying to prepare as best I can for the day of the assessment and there seems to be an abundance of resources, so I'd just like to touch base with someone who has either taken part in one of these assessment days or somebody who is involved with the recruitment side of at Network Rail. The more I can streamline my preps, the higher chance I stand of being successful on the day, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I guess it depends on whether you have a particular preference, related skills etc to any of those subjects. Obviously, D&P, Signalling and Telecoms disciplines may suit someone with electrical knowledge / background whilst the others are more general subjects where most construction and/or industry skills could be adaptable. Any Health & Safety knowledge or experience is of course useful across the board.
