New figures from Network Rail have revealed that 15pc of people have experienced a near miss or accident when using their mobile phone around the rail network.

This is the problem, lots of people talking on their phones are in their own little bubble and are not aware of what is going on around them.

The amount of pedestrians who nearly bump into me (because they are so engrossed on their phones) is becoming endemic

I have actually started to quite enjoy that - deliberately not moving out of the way until either collision is imminent or they look up at the last second and move out of shock.

None at all, as long as you're aware of your surroundings.

Would you use your mobile phone while driving? No, exactly. Because you arent giving the road your full attention. The people who fall between the train amd platform often havent seen the gap, often because thwy have been distracted by something else they were doint at the time. How many plane, car, train erc accidents have been caused by distractions?

Over here in the US, talking (and texting too!) are very common now while driving. [Texting is illegal while driving. Talking is so prevalent it is not worth enforcing.] So many accidents and close calls.:roll:
