Network Rail medical

So I've had the assessment, I've had the interview and next week I have the medical....the last step to becoming a Network Rail signaller.

Can anyone give me some idea of what to expect? Whats the hearing test like? How rigorous are the physical tests? Is the sight test identical to one in an opticians?

Yes, identical to an opticians, sight chart and a colour blindness test.

The hearing test is a sound proof booth, and you'll get played various frequencies through a headset and you press a button when you hear them.

You'll need to provide a urine sample for D&A testing, so drink plenty.

The physical parts are pretty much balance testing, I just remember having to crouch on my haunches, hold it and get back up.

How long does the whole thing last? Do they tell you f you've passed/failed there and then?

Except for the D&A test, they should tell you the results of the other tests.
