Hi -I have an interview soon for an on track plant specialist post within NetworkRail. I’m Ok about the interview as I confident about my competencies but the invitation mentions a 30 min test - written, numerical, scenario and technical. I’m guessing the tests will be SHL tests but normally these are 30 mins each and I have just clarified from the recruitment support service that it is a 30 min test in total. Does anyone have experience of this test so I know what to expect and can do some preparatory work ? many thanks in anticipation :)

Well I had my interview and it went went pretty well - although in retrospect I said a couple of daft things in the heat of the moment. The half hour test at the beginning was nothing like I had prepared for .. no sign of the standard SHL type numeracy and thought style tests. A small maths test and then some technical questions pertaining to the type of role. Finished with a couple of mins to spare. The guys ( 3) conducting the interview put me at ease and I got a cup of tea :) Fingers crossed now !!!

Thought I'd completely messed up both my interviews but apparently not, so don't worry too much!

Glad to hear of your experience and that you were put at ease - keep us posted on the outcome!

Did you have any luck?
I have an interview for a similar job. I am just inquiring as to whether or not you could help me with any tips for the aptitude test. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Didn't get the job unfortunately.

The assessment is really basic math multiply a few numbers and a few questions centered around a clock face or in other words 360 degrees. nothing to worry about, the second part was about lifting you need some working knowledge here center of gravity of load and machine couple q about statutory testing and some about acronyms of lifting eg MEWP. Last section was asking for examples of previous experience so quite open.

Good luck hope this helps.

In Reading , where is urs ?

York, what did you think of the salary? I've had to give up a van as well which was a little disappointing but I really wanted the job so it's a small price to pay

Yeah I'm happy with salary too!! Well I had van full time of my own with the job I'm giving up bit with this job I've got to make my own way to and from work and if I need a vehicle just whatever is free in the yard. When on call I get a van to take home though.
