Hi, before starting this thread I have searched over 20 pages back but can't seem to find anything related to the job role I have a panel interview for next week.
The role is for an Operative (Works Track Delivery). Has anyone had a recent interview for this role? I am prepared for the standard questions I.E, Tell me about yourself? What do you know about Network Rail? What can you bring to the role? But judging by researching they seem to ask you more in depth scenario questions? Will this be the case for an Operative or is it more for higher roles?
I want to be prepared as much as I can. These opportunity's don't come around very often, and after all this could possibly be my career so any help or advice regarding the panel interview would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Are you internal or external? Are you coming from a railway related role where you are now?

Hi, I am coming from external, all training is provided so I take it they are looking for fresh meat.

I come from a Military/Construction background.

The like good communication skills so repeating back etc, military background should be a plus for you. Not gospel but would expect questions like - name a situation you had to work under pressure, how did you deal with it etc. When have you worked collaboratively, what did you think the result of this was etc

To be honest, your background sounds pretty ideal.

I don't know what the specific questions will be for your job role, but I do know that NR interviews for my role (Signaller) were totally based around the 8 Non-Technical Skills. There were 8 questions, each associated to one of the skills. For my external interview, none were industry-specific, because that would be totally unfair.

quick question, what's the difference between, works delivery signalling, and signalling maintenance??

Works Delivery is government funded meaning that network rail do a job and claim money back Maintenance is funded by Network Rail so they don't claim money back on the work they do.

Im currently Works Delivery Track Team Leader and the overtime if you want it is definatly in works delivery maintenance is a struggling

Hi guys. I've had a formal offer through from Network Rail last week whilst on holiday (so happy)! Track maintenance in crewe. I've got my medical booked for next Tuesday. Now providing i pass that, which I'm sure I will, how long rougly does it take to get your start date from then? Just need to give my current employer a rough idea of when I'll be leaving.

Any info would be great!

Thank you. :)
