Network Rail interview feedback

Hi, could I ask if anyone has ever managed to get feedback from Network Rail following an unsuccessful application or interview?

Yes. Was very good too, they even took the time to call me not so long ago and ask me to apply for a different job. Bit hit and miss though as I do hear many others aren't too happy with them.

I applied for TFL graduate scheme, got through to phone interview before being declined. Didn't receive any feed back.

But around 6 months later they have the cheek to ask me to fill out a feedback form on their process. The cheek......

You will get some sort of feedback, usually through the post. NR's H.R dept aren't the quickest bunch at the minute. Your not the only one waiting for feedback anyway.

I have applied for a couple of jobs with NR

Not received a jot of feedback, when I have logged into the jobs section of their website it says “application accepted” however that’s the last I have heard from them.

I would love to work for NR I regularly see vans about where I live so I know that its feasible – I would even work for free if it meant that I could just be part of the team (seriously).

The problem is I never went to university, and In a job where I am trapped in a office all day – you would not associate me with any kind of rail work – but (even if I say so myself) I am eager to learn and hard working.

But ill keep on applying and take it from there I just wish they would open a door for me and let me in! – until then Ill keep on knocking!

I would love to work for NR I regularly see vans about where I live so I know that its feasible – I would even work for free if it meant that I could just be part of the team (seriously).

Erm....your problem is the maintenance aint employing until they shed a bit more staff through voluntry redundancies and retirement. There is still a long process of slotting displaced staff into various key roles and until then they won't remove the recruitment cap. One way in though could be to show some interest in their apprentice scheme!

Cheers, that sounds promising then, probably just my impatience getting to me - I have found it a bit of an uphill struggle sometimes, to be honest, though.

I recently received an e-mail saying that an application had been unsuccessful, but they could offer feedback by appointment if I contacted Recruitment Processing. So I did that, but received an immediate reply to say that they were unable to feedback at the 'pre-interview stage of an application'... I let them know that I had actually had an interview for the job, but since then it's all gone quiet, unfortunately...

From what I've seen, it's not their policy to give feedback on an application if you don't get to the interview stage, which is fair enough, but feedback after an unsuccessful interview (of which I've now had two) would be useful.

I possibly have a similar issue to you, in that I've been a professional archaeologist for the past 23 years (the last seven self-employed), which a lot of people don't consider to be a proper job

That would certainly be the plan

In the end, it's just a case of banging in the applications when I can & plugging away until I get somewhere (or at least until someone tells me it's not worth bothering, hence the need for feedback). I believe they also now operate a 'pool' system, whereby your details are kept on file & you may be invited to apply for vacancies before they're advertised externally (as mentioned by '185' earlier in the thread), which sounds like a step forward, so who knows?

Pretty much the same here - I've applied for five this year & had two interviews. Three of the applications are still active, one of the interviewed ones was unsuccessful & the other I should find out about either tomorrow or early next week...

Even NR's own staff have to fill in an app form to apply for different jobs. Even though H.R have all their details anyway.

where abouts are you? I don't no how they decide who to pick i sent the same app in 3 times only changed the date and got 2 interviews with 2nd and 3rd,now waiting on 4th but they are very slow.

I'm in Lincolnshire. I guess the time it takes to work through the process is largely down to the number of applications they're receiving - there seems to have been a greater number of vacancies posted in my area so far this year & I was told the other day that there were several others that haven't yet been advertised externally, too. Even if there are only half-a-dozen applicants for each post, that's still a lot of folks to sift through.

Regarding the application form, I generally keep the information the same, as the majority of it is factual stuff that obviously doesn't really change. I do, of course, check it each time I submit one, just to make sure that the passage of time hasn't invalidated anything (or in case anything new needs adding, for instance the date of my most recent successful assessment, etc.) & make sure the details are actually correct for the particular job I'm applying for, but that's about it.

I will keep trying,thing is my father used to work on railway and if i had wanted a job then could of had one no bother but i went into lorries,been trying for 10 years now to change.
