Network Rail Interview - Department Location - Interview Questions

Hi All, im fairly new to this!
I have recently been offered a virtual interview with Network Rail - so basically an online web interview.
They have advised that due to current situations (COVID-19) this is the only way the interview can take place - understandable!
I have 2 queries -
1: What does the department abbreviation stand for - " MA IMDM York Indirect "?
2: What interview questions are expected for an admin based role within NWR/Rail Industry?
- I am comfortable with the Health and Safety question which usually comes at the end due to being in the rail industry for almost 5 years following NWR life saving rules etc. Any help on other questions / ideas of what may be asked...

I have previously had an interview for NWR and was placed as reserve candidate although this was some time ago and the questions they asked have vanished from my mind.
Any information will be highly appreciated!!

The first question they’ll ask is your motivational fit ie why you want the job etc. Also think about putting the passenger first that’s they are all about at the moment.

IMDM stands for infrastructure maintenance delivery manager nothing you need to worry about at all its about the job area and the budget holder, presuming its a maintenance job you have applied for so the hierarchy will then go from lowest grade to highest

Section manager(might interview you > maintenance engineer > infrastructure maintenance engineer > infrastructure maintenance delivery manager

Hi, just an update.

They didn't perform their usual routine questions which i have been asked in the past.

Some of the interview questions were...

1. Provide right to work documents (Passport/NI Document)
2. Whats your experience of organising meetings? What do you believe you need to do? How involved have you been in that in previous roles? Do you get involved in the taking minutes side of things?
3. What is you availability for flexibility in moving around the offices and how would you get involved? Have you had any experience of this in previous roles?
4. Attention to detail is important, do you have any experience of attention to detail and do you have examples of how you performed this?
5. Being male dominated industry, how would you deal with a behavioural challenge? Or have you got examples of having to deal with this in the past?
6. Have you got any experience of a safety role you've been involved in or past experience?
7. What experience of systems and programs do you have /examples?
8. Are you working at the moment? Do you know what your notice period is/would be?

Questions i asked the interviewers:
a) Due to not travelling to the office for the interview, where about in [Area] is the office based?
b) What would the working hours be on an average week - repeating their mention of some flexibility being required?
c) Is there parking on site / Location of closest train station for transport?

Overall, i thought i did terrible in the interview as it lasted no more than 20 minutes which seemed VERY quick!

I called HR today to ask for an update as the interview was complete 11 Days ago and they had mentioned they would be in touch last week.
The woman from HR apologised for not being in contact sooner, it was just they didn't have a generic response to send out as she told me "you are our reserve candidate". They have given the successful internal candidate the offer, but have also requested they respond to the offer by Friday (12/06). I now have to wait until next Monday for a phone call to see if the successful candidate has accepted/declined the offer.

Hi, I too had an interview for the same job. Was asked the same questions as yourself and also only lasted about 15-20 mins max. I emailed the HR lady on 8th June as I had not heard anything, then got an email back saying I was unsuccessful. Did you get offered the job as I now see it has been re-advertised?

Hi Jo.
Sorry I have only just seen this.
The initial role I applied for I did not get as someone internal got it. They did however have another vacancy exactly the same which they put me forward to interview for along with a number of internal and external candidates and was successful I started in August.
Have you managed to join NWR yet?
