Network rail internal move salary question

I am currently on a 3B salary earning about 50k and am looking at taking a 4B role which means my current salary would be within the 'zone 2' range of the 4B role. Is there any way of keeping my current salary if I changed jobs or is it entirely down to the hiring managers discretion

You would keep your current salary as it falls within the banding. Obviously, some perks such as private healthcare and the bonus scheme would change.

In fact, due to the differential in pay rises, I think you would also sneak into the top of Band 5!
