It is a clever piece of kit, it videos the track in HD and has a clever radar system that measures the rails as it travels over them. Apparently it is so precise that when it snows the flakes show on the screens !

You see the Network HST quite often on the western seen it at paddington and saw it at reading the other sunday came up from basingstoke.

Also the 31s on the test trains as well the photo is at RDG TMD waiting the signal trying to get up the bank

The set 1st appeared in 2003 and the powercars used are 43013/014 & 062. 43067 & 196 were also painted in the yellow for a short time while they were used as cover while the regular powercars were having majors around 04/05.

Only seen the set about 4 times. But had the privilage of been invited for a ride on the train in the conference car.

And not forgetting 43089 which ran with the NMT during 2008 whilst it was part of Project Hayabusa testing the Hitachi battery powered train idea.
