Just wondering if anyone had done this? Having got my HNC 3 years ago Im feeling like a change from the oil industry. Would be great to hear from someone who has gone through the scheme.

Why not apply to Balfour Beatty Rail or Amey Rail and go through their Graduate schemes ?.

You will get paid a higher salary, have better terms and conditions, far superior career prospects, an immediate pension provision which is superior to Network Rail's, and a far nicer working environment.

I would avoid Balfours for the time being until they start to win more contracts. People are being let go every week at the moment due to the lack of current projects.

I would not worry about that at all. They don't let their graduate trainees go (unlike Network Rail), and in any case Balfour's are in for some pretty hefty Projects, and look likely to win the GW electrification works.

OT, which cohort. Very nearly ended up on the scheme but fell at the last hurdle, one of the managers did not like me.

Get a slightly smaller salary and a company car. :p
