Network Rail CSA Info

Hi everybody, just looking for some info/advice if anybody has any. Any help would be appreciated.

I've been successful for the role of CSA with Network Rail and am still waiting for info from them.

Does anybody know what the job is like, how well it is paid in London and what the travel benefits are like.

70% off a season ticket up to a max of £2100 is what you'll get travel wise. Nothing free.

Many thanks for the info. Do you happen to know if that is extended to family? and if there is any entitlement to reduced rate travel on the trains on an ad-hoc basis?

To my knowledge only Network Rail staff that get travel facilities would be those who are safe guarded. So as a new entrant you can get a season ticket which NR subsidise.

Rate of pay is aprox £16k per year.

You are limited to a 70% season ticket discount, which is not valid on London Underground AFAIK. Only eligible for longer period seasons too.

Based at KGX. It'll be my first job in the industry, very excited.

Not sure what duties are at KGX (I'm next door at STP), but I believe there's quite a bit of security patrolling involved, basically checking nothing's open that should be shut (and vice versa) and nothing left where it shouldn't be (and again, vice versa).
Apart from that, it'll be mainly answering general customer queries, if what we do is anything to go buy.

Where I used to work we had Network Rail staff in the CRT (Customer Response Team IIRC) who did security patrols, customer service audits and dealt with any incidents requiring first aid; Network Rail staff doing train dispatch; and TOC staff who dealt with mobility assistance and manned the information desk (the latter have now transferred across to NR).

If you have been offered a job surely you would have been told this information or if you wern't then I would have thought you would have asked at the interview?

Matt, your post in response to mine seems unnecessarily hostile and almost offensive. It has proven immensely difficult to get any information from NR and that's why I sought advice/guidance/info on here. I have obviously read the job description, done research into the role but have not been able to find out much specific to my particular job offer as the role appears to vary from location to location. For someone coming into the industry from the outside it is a new and complicated environment.

I hope you will accept my comments in the spirit in which they are intended, not as an argument but as clarification of my reasons for posting.

Indeed, when we had a re-organisation and had to re-apply for our jobs, the generic job description we were given was only about 50% accurate for the role!
