Network Rail Band 5 Role Clarity

Hi All,

In my contract it says no overtime allowance.

However due to Covid19 issues, ive been formally offered ex-gratia payments until the end of this pandemic as I've been doing 12 hour days trying to get signalers on training, in rosters, people out of retirement etc


I was wondering if anyone knew what this is paid at?

Is overtime for role clarity/band 5 at standard salary rate, 1.2 or 1.5x pay?

You would be best to ask your manager. It may be paid to you as an ex gratia or as a “HQ Special Allowance” every month but as you say there is no provision for overtime in RC contracts so the rate is entirely down to what has been agreed between you and your management team.

its strange all this because i know band 5’s that get overtime. Must differ on each route im guessing. In answer to your question i could of swore the fella told me time and half. Not exactly sure though

Yeah to be honest mate it probably would be ex imc t&c’s given the work we do. So overtime is available for them? Im going for a band 5 soon myself. Quick question LOM, obviously the band runs from 18-42k who ultimately decides your salary when you negotiate is it the hiring manager or do HR have an input too?
