Nope not yet, really weird :s was it a guy named Nadeem you spoke to?
I left him a message, hoping that he'll call me back tomorrow.

Not sure what his name was, he did sound Indian though.

hey guys, just reading through some of your posts, dont worry about when you will get your replys, it will happen, replys to you will vary, as it takes time to process so many applicants.
i had to wait over two months for my reply to come through, im currently in my 2nd year, started 3 weeks ago, i loved it down there, it was the first time that ive lived away from home and it took a few weeks for me 2 settle in, but when i did it was really good.
Theres quite a few things that you can do down there, gym, sport, inter house games,or goin out with mates, once you reach xmas, time goes so fast, you meet some good friends down there, ive just booked a holiday with a few of them.
enjoy your time down there as it goes fast.!!!!!!!!!!

I assume we make our own way there? And do you know the official start date? A question I forgot to ask on the phone.

They should have sent you an email now with a form about travel arrangements. They pay for you to get there. I put I'd be going by train, although I'd have to get it at 0530 to get there in time.

On the paperwork they gave us at my assessment it says the start date is Sunday 11th September, although at my interview they said the 10th.

Still no email from them, not the quickest bunch NR. Thanks for answering all my questions. I think a flight is best for me, won't be cheap though.

Hmm, my email arrived straight after the phone call.

It says you can fly from Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen.

The nearest airport is Southampton, from where you take the train to Fareham as above. Southampton Airport Parkway station is immediately across the road from the airport. The journey to Fareham takes approximately 40 minutes.

Like Hydro says, they pay for you to get there so no worries.

It says to get there for 1000 for a 1030 start so it looks like a lot of people will be having early mornings.

I got some paperwork in the post this morning, it arrived just as I was leaving for work so not had a proper look yet. There was a terms of employment, medical form, kit list and some other bits. I can post up some more info this evening when I get home, if anyone wants it and let you know what kit you need so you have more time to get it together.

Well I apparently stuck in my interviewers head when I spoke to him a few weeks later, read up on some info on railways and ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS I sat there and asked about Virgin and everything for about an hour and a half, so yeah ask loads of questions... It is the Maintainace Engineering Apprenticeship right?

LkToday:
My interview was really relaxed. I was worrying about it loads before I went but I gave myself plenty of time to get there and tried not to get too nervous and it turned out to be nothing to worry about. I hope it goes well for you.

Rwhunited:
Well done on getting a place. My paperwork was missing the medical form too, so am also planning to phone them tomorrow. As you saw I'm going to the open day on 3rd August too, are you taking anyone with you? I don't think it will be too awkward, after all I didn't know anyone at the assessment day but as we were all in the same position everyone got talking.

For anyone who may be interested, here is the basic kit you need to take:
Duvet covers x2 (single)
Pillow cases x4
Fitted sheets x2 (single)
Protective mattress cover x1 (single)
Towels x2 (at least)
Sports towel & swimming costume
Laundry bag
Name tags for clothing
Jogging bottoms/t-shirts and trainers indoor/outdoor
Casual clothing
'Evenings out' wear
Underwear/socks/sleepwear
Football/Rugby boots
Qualification certificates (not copies)
Proof of ID (over 18s)
Coat/jacket
Coat hangers
Hair dryer
Slippers/flip flops
Padlocks x2
3x plain white t-shirts for sports/fitness training (part of syllabus)
Scientific calculator
Coloured pencils
Assortment of biros/pencils
12" ruler and protractor

There's loads of information in the paperwork but obviously you'll get it in due course.

Yeah me and my Dad was mortified yesterday trying to find the form, thought it had fell down the side of the couch! So I'll be ringing Melissa Carlisle tomorrow telling her considering it has to be in Wednesday. What discipline are you?

Edit: Yeah I'm taking my Dad and Grandad (he's really into Engineering)

It says to return it with in a week of the date on the letter, not sure if that's a working week or normal week. I'm sure they'll make an exception if the medical form is missing. I'm worried in case I have some underlying medical condition and it turns out I can't get the job!

I've also applied for S&T.
