The 32 km Afsluitdijk cycle path, which is to the side of the motorway crossing between Noord-Holland and Friesland provinces in the north of the Netherlands, is closed for three years so that extensive water works can take place. So a free hourly bus service is being provided, which can carry up to 15 bikes and 30 people.

Aye, the Col of the Low Countries. ;) Did it with my dad some sixty years ago. :E Mad.
Don't know how this bus works out, you can't make reservations - quite right as that would restrict your timings - but if the bus is full you don't want to be waiting for another hour in the cold rain :frown:

...or for a far nicer experience - cycle down to Stavoren and get the ferry to Enkhuizen - pile your bike on with a few dozen others and enjoy a sail across ;)
