At least one tram was heading past Eskdale Drive towards Toton today seen at about 2pm.

Line 2 has been showing the same - stuck at due, 5 mins, and 10 mins is one I remember.

Been back on the clocks for a while though - noticed the ticket machine are now saying they are out of service now. Wonder how many people have actually tried buying a ticket? Seen a few people sat waiting for a tram too :lol:

Does anyone know where I can get a complete list of distances between adjacent stops (an ELR equivalent) for NET phase 2?

If they're going to run a 'shadow timetable' in 2-3 weeks on line 2 that means we're getting pretty close to public service - August or even late July?
Will they start public service first on line 2 or wait until line 3 is ready as well (it seems to be a bit behind line 2)?

As I predicted a few weeks ago 'It'll open to public at the beginning of school holidays when the network and roads quieter'. You read it here first ;)

Yesterday there was a special tram service to Beeston (arriving about 17:15) crammed with what appeared to be local bigwigs and employees of some presumably tram related companies. It turned back at Beeston just as I was passing and they all got out to take pics etc. then headed back towards Nottingham.
I considered getting my work id out on its lanyard to blend in and mingling with the crowd in the hope of getting a ride (and maybe some canapes after :D) but chickened out...

There was also a training tram following close behind, I saw it use the turnback at University Boulevard to head back towards Chilwell.

"A few weeks" was the party line at the conference for which the above special was organised. Still quite a few TSRs on the Beeston line and QMC stop has a bit still to do, but final-looking preparations were under way such as the addition of glass parapets to the bridge over Midland station.

Thanks - will hold off my Nottingham trip until the new lines have been opened & will keep tabs on events.

According to YourBus, the Line to beeston is going to open on the 12th of july.

this is incorrect, and is the date for the tram/bus interchange, see my second post below

Well, that's definitely wrong. A couple of days ago they just started two weeks of 'remedial works' at Abbey Bridge/Gregory street junction area. And there's still some tram stop work to complete, and I think they haven't finished the driver training. And I'm sure they'll want a couple of weeks notice for the 'grand opening' with all the bigwigs etc.
I'd be pretty confident it won't be before mid-August at the earliest.

Ah, a quick re-read shows that the date is for the ' Beeston Tram and Bus Interchange' Damn my scan-reading!

I noticed yesterday that the final markings were being painted on the roads within the interchange, but the crossover on the city direction had been dig up. 11th hour stuff!

One of the expansion joints on Wilford Toll Bridge seems to have been relaid at least four times now:-

1) Originally the same concrete as the rest of the bridge
2) The grey spongy concrete with rags in the holes (for months)
3) Wooden/plastic boards laid across the hole (for a couple of weeks)
4) Asphalt which had completely collapsed within 24 hours of it being laid
5) The concrete that has been laid elsewhere on the bridge joints

Wonder if they will ever get a final surface down?

A brief scan of the new fare structure gives me the impression that it applies equally well to the current and expanded networks - it contains nothing (as far as I can see) that's in any way specific to lines 2/3. So they might as well get it in place in advance of the line 2/3 opening.

Walking the tram route from Beeston to Station street yesterday I could see large amounts of remedial work in progress or marked out (mostly on the non-slip texturing) - but they seem to be doing it in very haphazard way (lots of short sections close together marked when it would be surely easier to combine them). Also, in many cases the sections marked looked perfectly OK whereas badly cracked nearby sections were not marked!

They seem to be doing this work quite quickly (I watched some of it in progress) but I'm not convinced this is a 'proper job' which covers all the cracking. I think the remedial work is going to be ongoing for some time even after the opening (and some of it may only become apparent when water gets in the micro-fractures and freezes in the winter).

Thing is, I can see that this work would not disrupt the trams directly (since it's not structural and the trams can go over areas where the texturing has been repaired without disturbing it while it's drying) but normal road traffic wouldn't be immediately able to drive over the repaired sections and I'm not sure how easy it would be to divert that traffic without the necessary diversion barriers/cones etc. interfering with the trams...
