The line up for the Diesel Gala for May 16th, 17th and 18th is now on the Nene Valley Railway website. It has been confirmed that DB Schenker will hopefully be sending 60 074 for the weekend (Friday to be confirmed) for this event. This engine will be raising funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Please note that this year the May event is a three day event and the Diesel Gala in September will be a Two Day event.

Tickets are on sale now.

Tickets booked for me and daughter on the saturday.

Do you know if there is likely to be an early train from Peterborough NV?

Always seems the first train is quiet late in the morning.

Thanks

The timetable should be out soon. The first one off of wansford is usually about 8.15ish so would be about 8.45 from Peterborough.

Here are a few photos from the Hastings Diesels Nene Machine tour back in 2012 as our preserved unit visited yet another preserved railway for a memorable day out.

The DCR loco has been confirmed as 56 312 this morning. The 1st issue of the timetable and allocation has also been issued.

The convoy arrived at wansford late on Tuesday night. The class 60, according to realtime trains, is due to arrive at fletton junction at 7.35am on Friday.

I had a good day here today, even if it was rather warm! Plenty of people around which was good to see, and a 'new' 66 in the book. I hope the Teenage Cancer Trust buckets got plenty of money in them, particularly in light of recent events.

748 and 750 arrived together and hooked onto the back of the train hauled by Class 73 at Orton Mere.

Had a fabulous day there today, big up to the organisers:D

In the end it's a good job the roster was amended from the origional otherwise the train the 66 was working would have been load 3. Even the 4 coach set was completely wedged.
Which bright spark thought it was a good idea to run a 3 coach set on a gala day ?

Unfortunately, the scania bar coach was found to have a problem with one of its bogies. Other wise it would have run as a four coach set.

Were both sheds powering on the back?

Had an great day at the gala on Sunday. Trains were busy through out the day with the 60 and 66 both proving very popular.

A few problems during the day. A problem with the points outside Wansford signal box delaying moves in and out of the station a for a while. Then, towards the end of the day, D335 was declared a failure at Peterborough with a brake problem. The loco had already looked to have had difficulty in detaching and attaching from stock earlier in the day which had knocked the timetable back a bit. Rescue came in the form of 31466 which was detached from its train at Orton Mere (leaving behind a large number of passengers including myself) and ran forward to return the failed train back through to Wansford. Passengers at Orton Mere having to wait nearly an hour for the final train of the day with D1501.

It was an unfortunate end to what had been a great day.
