I travelled up to Hellifield again today Wednesday 6th August, this time to see 61306 Mayflower with 'The Fellsman'
The charter looked to be running on time then looked like a problem at Clitheroe, which saw a 20 min late departure meaning the train
could not get into Hellifield in time for its path to Carlise, it arrived now 30 minutes late into Hellifield and had then to wait another 20 minutes to get a path northwards,
it eventually left about 50 minutes late

i decided to go to York to see it as it was originally going into Platform 7, something i very much doubted it would do, lo and behold, just as Tornado
was passing Holgate sidings someone yells out its going into P11, Oh well!!

I got a few photos and then walked at my usual slow pace over to P9 to see it leave hopefully, when i arrived on P9 the class 66 was showing red lights, oh dear its going to reverse
into Holgate sidings, thankfully it changed its lights to forward movement. Phew!!
Sadly the class 66 was in Rainbow colours and overshadowed Tornado's all over green livery
Anyway here are the photos, trying to avoid the overheads coming in was a nightmare

The LSWR S15 class is a British 2-cylinder 4-6-0 freight steam locomotive designed by Robert W. Urie, based on his H15 class and N15 class locomotives. The class had a complex build history, spanning several years of construction from 1920 to 1936. The first examples were constructed for the London and South Western Railway (LSWR), where they hauled freight trains to the south coast ports and further west to Exeter, as well as occasional passenger work in conjunction with their larger-wheeled N15 class King Arthur counterparts

Good morning

Deighton Railway station will close till 2027 on the 30th August this year, and it can't come soon enough!!
It is my local station and is now a total mess disabled passengers are told to go into Huddersfield station, as the ramps at both platforms have closed earlier this year.
Passengers have to go down a set of stairs to get to the Leeds/York trains, but to get a Huddersfield train they have also to go up and down a temporary footbridge.
Anyway here's a few photos as a record of the temporary access before it closes next weekend 30th August

Clearly not a good idea, i haven't been there for years, so imagine my disgust when i saw a fence in between the running lines, completely overgrown with weeds making photography quite a task, i was going to stay on train to Castleford after i saw this, but nor having a ticket, and with revenue protection officers on the train i had no option but to get off at Wakefield Kirkgate.

D600 and D601 were sold to Woodham Brothers scrapyard in Barry, South Wales. D600 was broken up within a couple of years but D601 remained intact until 1980. Preservation for D601 was denied on the ground that it was too far gone to be restored to operational condition and was not considered to be worth preserving for display only. The last Class 41 unit was broken up at Barry Scrapyard, while D602-D604 were sold to Cashmore's of Newport who broke them up far sooner due to the former concentrating on easily processable wagons before locomotives. As the fleet only lasted eight years in revenue-earning service, D601 actually spent more time in the scrapyard than it did hauling trains on the main line.
