Do you mind I am from Surrey
Hi this scan has appeared on an local history group (Aldershot) and we are struggling to identify what the engine is (the builder) and who owner might be (B.Y & H Ltd) and where it was taken

I think the builder might be Manning Wardle 0-6-0ST, and the owner might be Baldry, Yerburgh & Hutchinson Ltd, I think it was taken on the front lines in ww1.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Paul.

It seems unlikely that this contractor's loco would have been shipped to France complete with brass plates etc - so I would vote for one of the two WD camps built in 1915. The military men look a bit scruffy, but not necessarily unhappy!
