Hello, I've been searching through the web for a past while, and I can't find any answers. Basically, my father in 1985 went to London. Around the middle to late part of August, my father rode behind a steam locomotive. He can't remember the locomotive; however, he does know quite a few details. First, he does know that it had a tender, it pulled a rake of pullman coaches, it was on a Sunday, there was a tea service on board, and it was from London to Oxford. We've been trying to find pictures, but we have been unsuccessful. If anyone can help guide me towards the correct database, or even say what the locomotive was, that would be wonderful! He also said that there were plenty of train spotters all on the countryside, so there might be pictures of the consist from that exact day. Have a good one, Jim

sixbellsjunction.co.uk might be able to help you.
There were GW150 Celebration Excursions in August 1985. Diesel hauled from Ealing Broadway to Gloucester, Steam from Gloucester to Swindon. Could it be this?

My initial thoughts when reading this were, would this have been the SLOA Met-Cam Pullmans out of Marylebone on a Sunday lunchtime special possibly?

Although they tended to go to Stratford on Avon I believe.

My thinking too Mr C, perhaps something like the Gresley V2 4771 Green Arrow working the Shakespeare Express around that period in time?

Edit: having had a peruse at the Six Bells Junction site as advised by @87electric it now seems unlikely to have been Green Arrow.
