Hmm, these nedding lists in signatures seem to be getting popular....

Here's a challenge for those who have such a list in their signature. List everything you've had excluding railtours and preserved lines. Must be service trains only. I'll start ....

Locos 25, 31, 37, 40, 43, 47, 50, 86, 87, 89, 90, 91
D(E)MUs 101, 105, 108, 121, 141, 142, 143, 144, 150, 153, 155, 156, 158, 165, 166, 170, 175, 185, 220, 221, 222.
EMUs 304, 309, 310, 313, 317, 321, 323, 333, 350, 365, 375, 377, 390, 455, 465.

I'm just waiting for Meld or TheBlackwatch to come in and publish their lists now ....

Here's mine, as with some others I've bolded the more unusual ones.

Locos: 20, 33, 37, 43, 47, 50, 57, 60, 73, 86, 87, 90, 91
DMUs: 101, 117, all BR 2nd gens except 140, 141 and 155, then 165, 166, 168, 170, 175
DEMUs: 205, 207, 220, 221, 222
AC EMUs: 306, then 312 and all of the none Scottish stuff up to 323. 332, 360, 365, Regional Eurostar (GNER). Technically I've been on a 310 aswell, but it was not under power, being used as hauled stock at the time.
DC EMUs: 411, 412, 421, 423, all the current stuff running on the SR except 376 and 508. 507 on Merseyrail.
Coaching Stock: I've never had a Mk1 coach on the mainline, and only Mk2B, D, E and F, and I've not had a Mk3B.

Suppose the big misses there are the 121s (bit far out of the way for one unit on a short trip), 155s (done plenty of 153s though), 31s (hopefully get a change if they are on Yarmouths this year as planned), 180s (every time I've tried to go on one it's broken down, gave up trying after a while), and 376s (never had one turn up on a positioning move, always had better things to do than chase one). Could have had a 55 if my Uncle had got married another day (time Anglia used one on a London to Norwich and return).

By the way, I'm taking "service trains only" to mean trains where normal tickets are valid and anyone with one can travel, railtours being for special ticket holders only. Actually, was I to add Railtours, the only extra I'd get would be International Eurostar (since the twice I've done it it's been chartered for special ticket holders only).

101, 105, 117, 121, all sorts of 105/117/121 combos used on the NSE thames valley!
All modern trains are irrelevant.

First trains I ever went on were the Oxf-Pad 50s with my dad, done many of them during my very early years after I was born in 1987 til they ended (service trains) completely in '93. Dad took a pic of all the ones we had when we went out on trips, one trip to Salisbury netted me D400 & 50030 on the sharp end ;)
Others IIRC I had were 044, 007, 031, 029, 018, 001 and a few others.

Meld, Kestrel is a top 332/360 man, he's scooped new track in (as of last night) and aims to claim it for 1000!!! ;)

You've had a Western on a service train? :?

Ah, no. I never read your whole post :p

That's everything (that I could think of at the time) that I've been on.

EDIT: Added class 50 to my list :) That was done in November 2006 with Ascot. Can't remember what it was for, but there were 50s on passenger services in Wales....so yes.

Cardiff - Fishguard?

That's how i've had a 50 on a service train.

Or it could have been the Cardiff/Swansea - Gloucester shuttles.

Fishguard ended in September 06 I believe. The Rugby shuttles ran on November 4th, 11th and 25th. I done the 11th ones, as I was on the Christmas Cracker 40145 tour with Kestrel the following week an was busy the previous week

Mine's in My sig, although they are just the ones I have driven. Not bad as most where when I was a shunter/signalman/Ops manager! BR was great!. Actually officially as a driver so far My game is weak, just sprinters & Tomy trains (175's).

I could add 33,45,50 & 67's if I add on the cushions to the list. Oh & 92's when I was doing Pilotman working, also Parry people mover!!!!!

Best of them all was driving a class 20/9 on the stourbridge Town branch. "Right notch 4, release brake.....Shut off, apply brake. Done!" :? ;)

I won't even bother listing 220's/221's & 390's as they are just utter ****e!

Mine are (excluding preserved railways):-

08 (shunt at BNS many moons ago), 20, 25, 31, 33, 37, 40, 43 (HST), 45, 46, 47, 50, 56, 57, 60, 67, 81, 85, 86, 87, 89, 90, 91.
I am almost certain that I have had a Western once on a trip to London circa the age of 10. Unfortunately I didn't keep a "moves book" at the time

Can't say for any sort of unit as I don't keep lists for those (life is too short!)

Relevant locos I've had on a service train: 08 (2xPlymouth machines), 37 (quite a few between 95 and 08 ), 50 (31 and 49 for ATW, 31 and 44 for Valley lines a few years ago, and 50 out of Liverpool Street even further back) and 87 (going up and fown the West Coast like). Also sort of had a 40, a railtour I was on from Whitby to Crewe with 145 (also had tractor 229 with it) was made into a service traon between Chester - Crewe, think that counts 8-)

Relevant DMU's: 142, 143 and 144, hellfire!

Relevant EMU's: There ain't any.....
