1. Why is a District leaving Ealing Broadway at 1800 supposedly "crouded"????

2. Why is there such a big fuss, when after a SPAD you go at 15 MPH so if a situation like this occurs it can be avoided easily by stopping?

TBH, from where I am, someone on the train as a passenger got spooked by it and reported it. Because IMO everything seems to have been done by the book from what I have been told by LUL staff.....

Oh well, this just shows what the media in this country is like....

No, the new rule book states that you continue at a speed which will allow you to stop short of any obstruction ;).

Anyway, the media always exaggerates these things... If you look at LU, it's size etc., it is unusual for something to go wrong, at least operationally. I suppose, because it's an unusual occurrence, it's just being picked up on.

That story sounds very much like it was given to the press by someone at a train crew depot. As someone who is aware of what occured and works in the control room concerned, it is possible that if the timing of the trains were unlucky enough then they may have hit one another, due to the location of the signals, track circuit blockjoints and trainstops. There are a number of other factors that were involved this incident, but it would be improper of me to comment on here in public at this time.
