Network Rail have released a notice for procurement of signalling suppliers across the country for 10 years beyond the end of CP6.
It will be split into two frameworks; conventional signalling worth £1 billion and Digital Signalling (ETCS) worth £3 billion. They intend to appoint four suppliers to each lot with a guaranteed amount of work which is reassuring.
This differs from CP6 where the frameworks were route based.

As had I, but my point still stands - if they're sourcing the lineside kit they'll need to keep the fitment programme for track running unless they have structured the contracts in a scalable manner or they intend to have a warehouse full of spares.
