National standard length of validity

As the title says how long does the validity of the pass last for? Is it 2yrs?

If you’re referring to the driver assessments, validity is officially up to 5 years, but some TOCs have the validity period set lower, such as the 2 years you mentioned. I believe this is to prevent your passes expiring whilst you’re waiting for a start date, or whilst you’re sat in a ‘Talent Pool’.
