It has been sluggish/unreliable for a few weeks, was down yesterday morning, up last night but gone again today.
Guessing whatever server they are hosting on is having a problem.

Hi Sheff, I've been trying to get on for a couple of days now. I hope it's not gone bellyup!

I’m just going to say that it’s fine to discuss whether there’s issues gaining access to the forum mentioned, but we’d rather that there wasn’t any kind of comment on here about the way it’s run (I’m not personally a member so I’m completely neutral on this and I’m sure they’d do the same for us).

Thanks

Had a notification of a post on NP in my email in the wee small hours, but the link failed to open the site.

Whois lookup gives

Something seems to have gone wrong with the nameservers
Or else the server is offline
PING national-preservation.com gets a response, so DNS is finding the URL and it is responding, but not delivering any web pages.

I can confirm it’s a server issue, when it was up briefly I was able to log in and look at the error logs for the server.

Unfortunately, it’s likely to be off over the weekend as the forum owner isn’t around and I don’t have a direct contact for the hosting company to speed things up. Hopefully on Monday should be back to normal, apologies there isn’t much else I can do.

Many thanks for the update.

Oh well, we can't expect every website to work prefectly 100% of the time. I've not been able to login in since last year.

And, now that I've joined RailUKforums I may find that 1960s BR livery and numbering for all relevant locos is top of everyones like list. LOL!

After 2.5 days when I kept getting "504" errors, it was working fine just now (1530 GMT Saturday)! Get in quick before it falls over again!!

How many of are registered on both sites?
Must be a fair few.

Thanks should be made towards Rail UK for not banning any comments.
Well I am now, having found this one whilst searching for news of the demise of the other one!

I for one am happy to see some of my old friends have decided to join, So far though, I'm not sure if there is a forum on Owls, but I'm sure Bryan's input will be most welcome

Unfortunately, that's the problem, when someone else owns the site you use, when the site goes down, people are left in the dark,

After a couple of weeks working OK (for me) NP Forum is inaccessible again now.

Not accessible again today. If it carries on like this it will lose it's relevance as people won't bother to visit.
What's causing the forum to be so unreliable ? As I've said before, it doesn't help that it's now run by a third party, as a commercial venture.

It was running slow again this morning and now it's gone completely. Could this be the begining of the end? I hope not.
