This afternoon i will be making a journey form Mk to Leeds via National Express Coach. The last cvoach i went on was 1997 from Newcastle to Exeter, it took about 13 hours, I hated it.

I assume the journey environment has improved. At shoprt notice i had to make this journey and this was all i could afford. What kind of facilities can i expect to find on board? What kind of route will the coach take? Are there any comfort stops?

Depending upon route, there may be wifi and power sockets.

There won't be much difference between 1997 and now except there will not be a hostess service. Seat belts are now compulsory and they are often car type seat belts. The coach may be wheelchair accessible. There might be wifi.

MK to Leeds is only 3 hours so shouldn't be too bad, assuming there isn't that much traffic and your fellow passengers are OK. Probably no comfort stops on a journey that short.

Megabus usually has wifi but is not guaranteed. NX has wifi on some coaches.

Looking at the timetable for the 561 on Traveline Scotland, the 1625 goes non-stop from MK to Leeds, arriving 1930. That seems quite quick so I would be surprised if there is time for a service station stop on that timetable. If it doesn't stop then there won't be any refreshments.

Yes there is a toilet, but I would recommend going just before you get on at MK Coachway as they aren't always pleasant!

LOL i assumed that it was only football supporters coaches that the loos were like that!

I've been on plenty of trains where the toilets are disgusting. Never been that bad on Nat Express Coaches. I suspect the OP is going Nat Express because of a cheap ticket. Surely does not expect at seat service as well. If length of journey is not a problem, then you get pretty good value.

I've been on plenty of National Express coaches and the toilets were all fine. I went on a National Express just a couple of weeks ago. Its was just a short hope from Manchester Coach Station to Sheffield, the coach was brand new with leather seats, although I didn't use the toilet either way.

The Toilets on NEx Coaches aren't that bad, however if you just want a leek, it's best if you sit on them, last thing you want is to stsand up having a leek then the coach, breaks/ makes a sharp movement, the only thing i hate is the Toilets are a bit small, & narrow.

I would recomend stocking up on refreshments before you travel though, however not much you can do about hot drinks unless you take your own flask
