National Express on WCML

This morning, I saw a 4-car white National Express unit travelling south on the WCML at Lichfield Trent Valley. I am assuming this is some sort of special working as I'm not aware of any regular service and haven't seen it before?

I passed them at Stafford while I was working a Birmingham to Manchester service. It was two sets coupled. Sorry couldn't get numbers

None at present, I believe. Wait until May, and then head over to the West Anglia Main Line for either Cambridge or the Stansted Express.

Has it always been these two 379's doing the test runs in the Stafford area, or have there been different ones?

I'm just wondering which two I saw as my Super Voyager hurtled towards London. (I was too busy scoffing my Shepherd's Pie) :P

Far from always; it has changed with the date. I saw 379005 at the end of February.

Ah thanks for that Ivo. I wouldn't have really been able to see the numbers anyway, as it was a side-on view from the up fast line, with the 379's being in a platform to the far west (?) side of the station.

Passed a single 4-car 379 (could have been a double, only just caught sight of it) on the Up Slow at Apsley on 19th Feb... just to let anyone interested know.

just passed a 379 too around 1900hrs between norton bridge and madeley, its a 379 with lights on top? anyone kno what these are for?

There are cameras recording the pan and the OLE, the lights illuminate the camera view for night filming.

Saw a double unit through Atherstone at 5.20 this evening. I'm afraid that I didn't identify the front unit but 379011 brought up the rear. it was on the London-bound slow line.
