(Firstly i apologise if this is in the wrong area and is already a post)

National Express is to lose its franchise (East Anglia) in 2012 when one of three new franchise will take over but they will be keeping C2C as they have done well with there reliabilty and punctuality.

1.Stagecoach
2.First Group
3.Go Ahead

What do you think of this and what group should take over:?::?:

By the way whos Go Ahead:?::?:

Go Ahead: Current operator of London Midland and Southern. The group was formed at the deregulation of bus services in 1986, when they secured a portion of the former NBC operation around Tyneside, and traded under the "Go-Ahead Gateshead" moniker. Later expanded (circa 1997 IIRC) to take over a much wider sphere of local and regional bus operation in north east England, and then acquired other bus operations in other areas of the country before moving into rail franchises. To me, they will always be "that operator of red and blue buses in Gateshead"...

As Ivo says, we've already had a recent thread covering this topic: I want to see Stagecoach win the short seventeen month "caretaker" franchise, as although both staff and passengers are likely to see few changes from the former National Express operation, whoever wins the caretaker franchise surely has a better innings of securing the following long term franchise.

Go Ahead is not quite the same animal as Govia, the operator running LM/Southern/SE.
This is a joint venture 65/35 with Keolis (part-owned by SNCF). Go Ahead are bidding for East Anglia on their own (and Keolis are shortlisted in partnership with SNCF for West Coast).

My money is for our Dutch Friends, who are a lot less awful than the others.

From what I read the new franchise is a very short one and will only be for 17 months. I guess thats to cover the Olympic games.

I'm also sure Abellio were in the bid, don't know if that has changed since.

Not surprising, considering they didn't bother applying!

Exactly, i think what First might be up to, and rather hope! Is let the caretaker franchise run it's course, then in 12 months time when the refranchising program restarts for the full length franchise, Bid then!

Hopefully, you'd then see a return of what once was the Award Winning First Great Eastern & Anglia Railways standards!
