For how long do entries on NESA remain after the closure of the relevant line? As an example, entry NW7015 still shows details of the line from Padiham Power Station to Rose Grove West junction. The line itself was the vestigial remains of the North Lancashire loop. In this instance, the power station has been closed since March 1993 and is long since demolished and the track was lifted to make way for a linear country park and walk & cycleway. I don't anticipate seeing any early reinstatement.

The line is still in the hard copy too along with lots of other little remnants that no longer exist on the actual infrastructure such as catch points for example.

They stay in until people get around to taking them out basically, it could well be down to the fact that the line isn't officially closed so cannot be taken out!. Could always email them saying its incorrect.

Presumably they have to go through Network Change before they are taken out.

There is no guarantee that just because the track has gone and there is a cycle way on it that NR view it as formally closed; however re-establishing the Padiham branch will take some doing after this interval of time.

Pretty sure the Network Change for Padiham just states OOU.

Living locally to the line, I could confidently state that the prospect of any reinstatement of this line- for any reason- is so vanishingly small as to be nil. I was trying to establish whether NR or its predecessor, British Rail, retained any ownership of the trackbed, or a way-leave which, in theory, could be exercised in the future, and so explain why the current status of the track is "out of use" rather than "non-existent"
