Nat Ex / Megabus passenger loadings

Having seen an increase in national express and megabus coaches on the road, how well used are these services ? Will train passengers turn to these much cheaper services ?

Im on the M20 from Glasgow tomorrow so will report back on loading. All megabus fares Glasgow to London were about £30 one way. so it would of been cheaper and quicker to get train , with railcard at least.

I was on National Express coaches last week, From Tiverton to London return and London-Glasgow return, The 502 Tiverton-London Return, were not up to half capacity, the 595 London-Glasgow return, both ways was full to half capacity, as required by social distancing.

The fares were pretty expensive on all sections, as one is paying for 2 seats due to Covid, Tiverton-London was £15.60, London-Glasgow was £38.00 both ways, and London-Tiverton was £24.00, so not exactly cheap, which has put me off doing overnight Exeter-London National Express, for train day out from London, as looking at over £54.00 return, which too me is pricey, as few weeks back got a £24.00 advance single, Tiverton Parkway to Paddington, so if can get train that price, then no brainier use the train.

Would be interested to know if Megabus still have a load of seats removed from their coaches and the others respaced as I believe they did early on. Mega legroom (!) would be an excellent selling point.

M11 workings between Glasgow and London are currently still running a reduced service. However, loadings are at maximum capacity mainly which is 29. They are using the 'extra legroom' Panoramas which have had seats removed. Fares seem to be approx £32 per journey. Journey times still much quicker than National and the fares are much cheaper too. Inside info is extra M11 services could be returning shortly bringing us back to a full timetable

Yes, the Megabus Panoramas have the seats removed still giving bags of legroom. The Astromegas still have all seats in, however, we use them for Northbound runs to Aberdeen and Inverness which are allowed 40 passengers on board. I drove a Rugby Interdeck yesterday and that had many seats missing upstairs too. Definitely seems a very good selling point
