Narrow Gauge class 58

It looks a bit like a class 58 but in fact it was built for the South African railways and bought by the Ffestiniog railway. Its called Vale of Ffestiniog

It looks like a "MainLine" livered narrow gauge class 58 but the only diffrence is that it's a tiny bit narrower,but still it does look very similar though.

It looks nothing like a 58 other than having a full width cab and narrow midsection. Not really sure of the point of this thread... wouldn't it be better in the preservation and heritage forum?

Well it is on the Ffestiniog railway and that is a preserved/heritage railway

your right, it is an ex SAS/SAR 2ft gauge 335hp diesel hydraulic Bo-Bo Funkey diesel, built for a diamond mine near johannesburg.

she was imported to the UK in 1993 along with similar locomotive caernarfon castle/castell caernarfon and was extensively rebuilt to look like a class 58/59, she was originally painted in national power livery due to the fact that her rebuild was sponsored by the said company.

she is now painted BR two tone green and looks very smart!
