A one-time terminus for all services, this town's only station is on a junction between two different TOCs' routes. One of the lines is electrified; the other is a major diesel route. At least one of the lines to this town has more than one station in the next settlement.

Redhill is a good one but it (somewhat succinctly) suggests that there are only two diverging routes (as in "one is... the other is..."). Also I'm not of the opinion that it has ever been a full-scale terminus.

A little further hint then; think a bit outside the box. No-one said when the station in question was a terminus.

The North Downs route. The term "major" is subjective; bear in mind it is a gateway to Gatwick Airport from the western half of England and Wales and recently had Voyagers running on it on long-distance routes.

im expecting someone to get this one pretty quick
This was once a through station between two citys but is not now. However trains can go to two different stations by reversing. Currently, the two citys have 5 passenger trains passing between them every two hours per direction, with more on saturdays. The former through line is used as a footpath. It is operationally within a PTE area, but in terms of location, not.
