Is it correct this Member of Parliament for Mid-Bedfordshire should draw her salary whilst participating in "I'm a Celebrity Get me out of here".

Her viewpoint is that she may be able to articulate political discussion amongst "the masses" that tune into this drivel.

More importantly will she do a "Myleene Klass" in a white swimsuit under the waterfall

I'll be honest, and I told a forum member exactly the same last night away from here, I think it's disgraceful. She has a job to represent people, they all do. We are in the midst of wars in the Middle East, cuts to all aspects of life and attempts to restart our failed economy and she's buggered off to Oz to appear on reality TV, no doubt pocketing thousands upon thousands for her appearance on the show too, all the while the people of rural Mid-Beds go without someone to turn to, the actual person who is meant to represent them. She should be ashamed and if she was my MP I would do all that I could to ensure that she doesn't even get so much as to stand at the next election. Maybe over time it will dawn on MPs in particular as to why the public have a deep distrust and dislike of them - it's because of things like this.

I find her and her drivel most irritating, thankfully I do not watch 'I'm a Z lister feed me to the alligators' so I'm all for a bit of Nadine bashing. ;)

I refuse to watch that programme because of the way they treat the animals involved. Killing blatantly tame pet rats* for entertainment is not something I approve of in any way!

*if they were wild rats they would run straight away from people!

In Retirement.
Look on the bright side she will do less harm out there, and we will probably save a fortune in expenses.

Serving her constituents is obviously not her main concern just making a few quid in some stupid t.v. show.

The teachers who all decided to shut up school for the afternoon to go to a wedding reception this week have acted similarly irresponsible.

Well, they've withdrawn the whip from her (so she's been slung out of the party) and quite right too! I reckon we'll be seeing a by-election in Mid-Beds very soon.

She hasn't been slung out just suspended, but I think this is all part of her plan to join U.K.I.P in the near future.

and in any case MP's are elected as individuals, most of whom are members of a party. If she does get thrown out the party then she will sit as an independent until the election.

I think a lot of Mid-Beds constituents would welcome a by-election to get rid of this idiot.

But I doubt the Conservative Party would - Louise Mensch has lost Corby in all probability by going to the USA and resigning.

I thought Dorries would be popular with the "socialist hawks" on here as she recently referred to Cameron and Osborne as "posh boys". She on the other hand was a Nurse.

Nadine Dorries’s decision to become the first sitting MP to take part in the down-market reality TV show I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, which has resulted in her suspension from the Conservatives, angers former winner Christopher Biggins.

Speaking from his lounger on a Caribbean cruise, the pantomime dame rages: ‘It’s outrageous a politician is doing it this year. I’m a Conservative and I think it is incredible she is going to miss out on the EU budget vote and George Osborne’s mini-budget.

When I get back from the Caribbean I’m going to apply for her seat in Mid Bedfordshire. I’m sure I can win that too.’ Look out!

I hate to be so blunt, but I have to ask: why?

I agree with everything he's said personally.

Biggins has a well documented record of being a "rent a quote" - the guy will turn up to the opening of an envelope.

Who remembers "On Safari"

What if something really untowards should occur in her constituency during the period of her absence, where she as the local MP should be in the House of Commons to speak upon this matter on behalf of those she is meant to represent ? I see this matter as crass publicity-seeking in order to raise her future "image rights" in whatever field she feels her life will next take her to.

Who remembers when John Bercow (the speaker of the house) had to endure his wife going onto 'Celebrity Big Brother?' I didn't watch it myself, but I seem to remember she was evicted fairly quickly. Her comments about 'sticking two fingers up at the establishment' certainly raised a few eyebrows!

I wonder if she has organised a "pair" in the Commons with a Labour MP as she will be unable to vote whilst in Australia.

I could understand this if she was ill or away on parliamentary committee work, but not one iota knowing the type of event she intends to participate in. Why should any opposition MP with any sense of political responsibility be privy to such a move ?

The answer should be no. She's not attending Parliament or representing her constituents, whilst away. I'm not a constituent of hers; but she isn't on, parliamentary business.

Never watched the programme so can't comment on that and don't like Nadine Dorries' politics, but how does this differ from the many MP's who also have numerous other jobs? They are not just board members, some are QC's for example, and have spent much time in court on high profile cases - they can't be adequately representing their constituents, can they?....but I do think Nadine Dorries is being entirely cynical and should be docked a months salary...oh, and when did MP's become 'celebrities'?

"Celebrities" is now a word that is far removed in its descriptive definition from what its original standing was generally understood to have conveyed. It is somewhat similar to the word "Diva" which used to have a specifically understood meaning, but has now been seen fit to address those of somewhat lesser talents.
