Mystery North West station

A North West station features quite heavily in this Granada Reports feature about a 'mystery' location:

Northern mustn't have known well in advance that they were filming as a Pacer comes along at the level crossing.

Hale Cheshire rather than Hayle Cornwall as in "Hayle and Farewell"?

I suspect it's Nantwich - very pleasant town in Cheshire - rather spoilt by footballers wives!

Which one? The one near Altrincham or the one near Widnes. (I know one doesn't have a station.)

The clue about the station used to be called Peel Causeway confirms the answer.

It's Hale near Altrincham, on Mid Cheshire line.

Deffo Hale. I have used the station 5 times. Also pop trivia fans, Hale station was featured in the very 1st episode of 'Mount Pleasant' on Sky1 some months ago (Well, the Level crossing was).

You wouldn't find a 142 at Nantwich, unless it was on the back of a low loader!
