Hello all!

Recently came into possession of the attached item when I was crossing a footcrossing near Rainford. No idea what it could be and anyone I've asked seemingly has no idea, so thought I'd come here for an answer.

Any help appreciated!

Might this be a security tag / seal from the lock / locking mechanism of a shipping container being moved by rail?

Potentially, didn't do a good job of showing it in the picture but it looks as tho whatever was attaching it to wherever it was has been sheared severely, hopefully this pic shows it better

A container seal is an integral part of a shipping container.. It is compulsory for
every shipping container to have at least one seal before a shipping line allows
the container to be shipped..
Container seals may come in many shapes and forms from embossed lead wire
seals to plastic and metal strip seals to plastic and metal bullet seals to padlocks,
all of which have been used by customers to safeguard the precious cargo that is
shipped in containers....

I've seen references to these container seals but never actually knew what they looked like. If you do a google image search on "Maersk Line Container Seal Policy" it resembles the plastic part of one of those bolt seals and has similar markings
