my weathering stuff

I am new to this site, originally came on following a link about jobs on the railways, stumbled on the modelling section and thought i would share some of mine.

I wont blab on about how and what, but i am more than happy to answer any questions anyone has.

nice how did you get the blue 08's paint to look sort of faded? and the oil stains on it? i'm needing to weather one myself

Hi blackettstreet, Thanks for the comments.
The Blue 08 was weathered using a mix of the tamiya weathering powders, they do them in packs of 3, and the ones i used had a white and a kinda light mattalic blue.
i used a brush and a just dampened it slightly and worked a little both into the panels and the take it away again as its drying with a cotton bud.
it doesnt look like its done anything to start with but as it drys the effect gets better.
The oil stains are from another tamiya pack, but before i did any oil staining a airbrush the frames and areas were muck and grime collects with a acrylic mix of railmatch frame and roof dirt, once dry i take alot back off with a cotton bud and white spirit, working from pictures you can see were dirt collects.
for the oil stains i dampen a brush with water and use the tamiya oil stain powder and streak it were oil collects and as with the white and blue the effect looks great once dry.

some good weathering there. When I'm back in the position to do a bit more modeling I'm going to have a crack at weathering.
very nice looking layout there too, any chance of some pictures of the layout overall? As I am looking for some layout ideas.
