vA couple of years ago I decided to make the UK Rail Network, although I didn't know much I ended up giving up on it. However, urged with a reason not to revise, I've decided to start it up again. I'll edit this post every now and again as I expand. Here are some details:
All of these are available from within OpenTTD.
The Scenario is UK v3 (v3.0a4).
The GRF's used are:
ECS.Basic vector beta 5
UK Renewal Train Set v3.04
UK Renewal Train Set v3 Add-ons .04
A few things to note:
For some reason OpenTTD got rid of all of the industries (I think it's because I'm using conflicting GRF's), so that's why there are floating tags in the middle of no where.
I have 10 Train Depots just outside of King's Cross with a large amount of loco's/multiple units in them. This is because eventually you're not allowed to buy them any more, so I bought loads to make sure I have enough to last :P
This is meant to be quite accurate, but I don't have the time/patience to try and sort out some aspects, mainly stations. Some of the stations are quite messy (Newcastle!), because I'm not amazing at the game. If anyone can teach me how to make better stations without the trains getting lost, I'll be eager to listen

I've tried not to delete too many rivers, but where they conflict with the rails, I have (to save my trains all losing so much time on bridges).
I'm not up to Timetabling yet, but I have tried to implement the same kind of services that run in real life. Some are missing (such as the EC Stopper to York) to save too many complications.
For the record, I started this in January 2013, and I also gave myself millions of pounds

You might have a bit of a problem if you ever make it to Wales though, as neither Aberystwyth nor Pwllheli are on there! That's always the problem with this population scaled map though. Depending on how much editing you're willing to do, if you let the game play, the whole bottom right corner becomes London, and Wales is apparently uninhabited. Then again, perhaps that's symptomatic of the way the real world is...
