My Trip Report 15/09/14

My intention was to do the LH Chiltern Train with the 67s before it goes to the 68s.

I'd set my heart on the 1055 Birmingham Moor St to London Marylebone. To kill a bit of time I decided to go the long way instead of direct using XC here's the trains I caught with mileage and numbers

All well so far even managed a 158 Man Pic to Shrewsbury I wandered to Moor Street to be greeted by no 1055 on the screens I walked a bit further and the other screens had this and the 1054 to Snow Hill as delayed. I walked to the barrier and the bloke looked at my ticket and said all trains to London are suspended due to an incident at Banbury and to go to New St where they had acceptance on VT to Euston. Now I didn't want to go via Pendo so I sat down and got on RTT and looked at the timetable to see when the next LH was which was 1255 so I thought I'd wait for that as the inbound set had about an hour layover to Moor St so thought if it was late in it would have a good chance of leaving south on time but RTT painted a bleak picture and the Northbound set had got to Bicester and no further so rightly assumed it was probably terminated there to form a southbound service. At that point I gave up and went to New St and went for the 1230 VT to Euston, was in time for the 1210 but as this is a through train from Glasgow I figured I'd have more chance of a decent seat on the 1230 which starts at New St. I got a sandwich and wondered down to coach B and got a table seat.

So arrived at Euston a little late but nowt major walked down Euston Road to Kings Cross via the toilets at St Pancras got some chocolate and found the 1448 GC to Bradford Int stood with quite a few people until the doors where released watching the GC crew having a cuppa. At 1446 the station announcer says it cancelled very few people move someone taps on the window at the crew as I walk off to go for the 1500 Edinburgh good job I didn't get on it doesn't stop at Doncaster!! Then they announce the platform for the 1505 Leeds so I make a dash before the stampede from the concourse and grab a seat in coach B at the front.

So all in all a bit of a disaster in the end!!!

Doesn't get any better now held at Doncaster because 1D17 1405 KGX to Leeds has failed between Wakefield and Leeds. Now off to York instead!!

Do I assume you're on some sort of pass?

Not the best of days there for you, but you've still got time to do the loco hauled stuff on Chiltern yet. I'm hoping to work out a plan to do the loco hauled from Moor Street to Kidderminster soon, just to get it covered with a 67. Rest of it I've done plenty of times thankfully.

Not good customer service with GC there surprisingly!
