Hey all, I just got back from london last night, so Im going to write up a bit of a report. (im going to do the journey there now, then other bits later.
We took the 10:28 service from Nottingham to London St.P. This is one of east midlands Enhanced services. On the table where a glass and cup each, and an all day menu. Real glass and porcelain too
The trolley reached us at east midlands parkway, With some good tea/coffee, a little bottle of water, and a little pack of biscuits each. Served by the host and the chef
Just before Leicester the chef came around and took orders from the all day menu, I ordered the east midlands plowmans, and my friend daniel ordered the cheeseburger. Just after this the trolley called round again, however it was mainly offering tea and coffee. But when I asked the host, she was more than happy to let me have another bottle of water and some more biscuits.
Around Market harbor (sorry cant spell it) The food arrived (we where still moving when it arrived as I remember bumping into the chef on her way to our table and wobbling through the vestibule.
When it arrived, it looked kinda like this
However I had eaten a pickled onion, some of the crisps, and a few bites of the bread when I took this picture. Sorry Team!
Now this was excellent. The crisps where probably kettle chips, or a similar high end brand. The bread was real authentic bread, not the mass produced white fluff it could have been. The pickled onions where tangy, but sewwt enough to eat straight, or with some of the cheese. The salad was okay, just leaves and cherry tomatoes, but they where fresh and tasty. The pork pie was perfect, none of this soggy pastry, it was firm and crunchy without being hard. there was a good flavour in the meat, and not masses of jelly. The only real let down for me was the cheese, I would have preferred a good cheddar, but it is an east midlands plowmans though, and it was quite tasty for a red Leicester.
At some point another cup of tea came around, perfectly timed as I was taking my time with the plowmans, and needed a top up.
We where pulled along by 43061, but Unfortunately I didnt get the pushing loco.
Also in some sidings near london (under wires) we say 4 Hst sets? what where they doing?
