My idea to improve Gloucester station

Gloucester could do with a makeover to remove platform 1 and move it at the end of 4. It is also badly placed due to no weather protection and everyone forced to catch a train gets a soaking.

If I am understanding your idea correctly wouldn't it require more passengers to use the footbridge whilst accessing or changing trains?

Also cause more un-necessary conflicting movements, e.g. between a southbound service from Cheltenham Spa, reversing at Gloucester prior to continuing via Standish Junction and a northbound Cardiff-Cheltenham Spa

If you were to muck about I would have thought you would shorten P1 and put a bay on its south side with an independent route from the Standish direction.
And demolish the station building - that is minging!
