My idea to create more three car class 150s.

Its a pity that work could not be carried out on the 150/2 coaches from units that have been split for these ciaches to be added into 150/0 units to convert the 150/2 coaches into a centre coach like those built when 150001 & 150002 were constructed.

The idea behind this is that it would create full 3 coach 150s instead of having to divide units to have a coach added to them.

The work would require the cab ends to be converted in order to create a trailer coach with an engine like those in 150001 & 002 or the other way to create 3 coach 150s which possibly could be done to quite a few units as class 319s are withdrawn from service is to use the trailer coach that does not have the pantograph or creat hybrid 150s by adding pantograph coaches from the 319s into some of the 150s therefore allowing them to work on elecy, whether that could be done or not I do not know as I DO NOT work for the railway or at any depots.

There would be no need to do anything to the redundant cabs, the Northern hybrid units still retain the cabs in the centre cars. Perhaps if the reformation had been done fifteen years ago and was known to be permanent it would be worth removing the cabs and using the space for luggage or bike storage. Pedantically, a "trailer coach with an engine" is an oxymoron- "trailer" means unpowered, not uncabbed.

As far as using middle coaches from electric units is concerned, unfortunately this would be difficult. On the mk3-based EMUs, the non-pantograph car from the middle is also the (only) coach with motors, but those electric motors would have no power source without the pantograph trailer. The 150s are diesel-mechanical units not diesel-electric, so adding the pantograph trailer wouldn't be able to power the 150 cars.

A trailer coach with an engine is called a motor.

You seem to be under the impression that any centre car is a trailer. It isn't.
Motor = vehicle that powers the train
Trailer = vehicle that has no traction motors (EMU) or engine (DMU)
The end vehicles in the uints are driving cars i.e. they have a driving cab. You can have driving trailers or driving motors.
or the other way to create 3 coach 150s which possibly could be done to quite a few units as class 319s are withdrawn from service is to use the trailer coach that does not have the pantograph or creat hybrid 150s by adding pantograph coaches from the 319s into some of the 150s therefore allowing them to work on elecy, whether that could be done or not I do not know as I DO NOT work for the railway or at any depots.
Not feasible. Adding a trailer to a 150 will cripple performance. Add in a pantograph coach from a 319 also won't work - you're creating another 769.

Not easily. The existing engines on a 150 won't work on anything other than diesel. The cabs of a 150 wouldn't be able to control the motors/panto of the 319 coach. So you'd have to spend millions reengineering the 150 vehicles for something that was a bodge job and would be incredibly slow on diesel. It would probably be cheaper to take a 319 and add engines to it... and we all know how well that worked.

Would a 4-car class 150 plus the unpowered Trailer Standard Open Lavatory (TSOL) from the centre of a class 319 have sufficient power and tractive effort from its four engines to perform on the St Ives branch and travel to and from its Exeter depot?

How does a 2-car class 150 perform with one engine out-of-service - can it travel on the mainline?

Yes - sluggish but gets there. That said the time I had one the engine failed at Tamworth heading to Birmingham (so as you can tell it was a while ago), I it very possible it was taken out of service at Birmingham, but wasn’t much point in terminating the train early.

Has a 3 car unit even being formed out of 3x 150/2 cars?

I did also wonder in on Northern routes where 2x 150s are often used if they could do 150/1 (52) 150/2 (57) 150/2 (52) and 150/1 (57) to create a 4 car through gangwayed train.

As far as my knowledge most Ex-manchester local trains which are not electric were either 2 x 150 or a mix of 150 and 156 coupled together

From what I have read on here and other forums, it doesn't appear to be that much work involved in dividing a 150/1 to put another coach in the middle.
