My idea for Zone 9 extensions

Was just wondering as Amersham is about 27.9 miles,
isn't it about time to extend other stations to the Zonal area to help commuters.
I was thinking parts of the SWT franchise and stations such as Sunningdale which are a similar distance, and have similar journey times to the met / chiltern line.

Extending TfL fares to non-TfL areas is fraught with difficult politics. Zones 1-6 very roughly map to the Greater London boundary. This means, via the Mayor and the Assembly, that most voters within the zones have political oversight of the fare structure. Special aggreements are in place with local councils where the zones extend beyond. Which isn't just up the Met. The Watford DC has stations in Zones 7, 8 and Special Zone W, the West Anglia Overground has stations in Zones 7 & 8 whilst AGA West Anglia, to Hertford East, has Special Zone B. TfL Rail (pre-Crossrail) has staions in zones 9 (not 7 & 8!) and C. A Small number of c2c stations are in Zone G

We do not have mileage based pricing.

There is absolutely no prospect of similarly cheap fares on SWT, as the trains are already full!

Do you think that Surrey and Berkshire are one of the most affluent areas of the country so people that would be commuting in would have very well paid jobs and thus can afford the higher fares?
